The inscription at the foot of the grave reads:
You have passed on and we remain but the time will come we'll meet again.

It is not yet known which unit of the Royal Navy Donald Orchard was serving with, nor the circumstances of his death except that he died in Llandaff Military Hospital, registered Q3 1945, Cardiff.

His father was Albert Harry George Orchard, born 1903, registered in Epsom, who was a Bus Driver for London Transport at Leatherhead. His mother was Eva Emily Maddock, born 1905, registered in Ealing. Their marriage on 5th January 1924 was in Leatherhead Parish Church. She died in 1985, registered in Worthing, having remarried. In 1938 the family were living at 17 Ryebrook Road, Leatherhead ².
