LEATHERHEAD WAR MEMORIALS - WORLD WAR I

THOSE SERVING 1915 From the Parish Church Church Monthly May 1915, compiled by the Vicar, Rev TF Hobson, listing Leatherhead men serving in HM Forces.

TAKEN, NOT GIVEN The meticulous work by the late Liam Sumption on the names on the Leatherhead Town War Memorial was done without benefit of the internet. It includes some historical background in addition to what he was able to find in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Liam's research is being checked, updated and added to by Frank Haslam, working with local researchers, using the on-line resources now available. Liam's flat in Windfield, Leatherhead was bought from the Haslams. Liam shared Frank's interest in military history and gave him some of his historical manuscripts. Frank edits these pages and is the L&DLHS Lead on local war memorials.

WWI LISTING A complete listing of Leatherhead's World War I dead, each linked (where so far possible) to their name on the Town Memorial and to their CWGC record which gives their details, their grave location and cemetery details if they have a grave - or if they have no grave, the memorial on which they are commemorated.

Further research is adding something of their life stories.

WW1 PARISH MAGAZINE Extracts from the Great War issues of Leatherhead Parish Magazine which were republished in the Parish Magazine month by month during the centenary years.

CENTENARY Nov 11 SERVICE Fully illustrated record of the Remembrance Sunday Service on 11 November 2018 at the Town War Memorial in North Street.
