Therfield
School
10th January
2001
Dear Parents,
It was fifteen years ago that I took up the
post of headteacher at Therfield. They have been very happy
times for me, I could not have asked for a better school to
lead. However the time has come for me to pass on that
responsibility to someone else and I have informed the
Governors that I intend to retire with effect from the end
of this school year.
The school has never been stronger. There have
been a record number of applications for places for next
September. You will know from other newsletters that
examination performance at all levels has never been
bettered. The school is therefore ideally placed to appoint
a new Headteacher who can bring a refreshed vision and
vitality to take Therfield on to even higher attainments.
Plans are well in hand to make this important
appointment and I will of course give you details of the
person who will take over as soon as they are known.
Governors plan to have completed the process by half-term in
February.
I also need to let you know that I will be
absent from school for the second half of this term. I have
to undergo some minor medical treatment which will keep me
off work for about six weeks. During that time the school
will be in the very capable hands of the Deputy Head, Mr
Geary.
My thanks for all the support that parents
provide which makes this such a special school in which to
work. It will certainly keep me fully occupied until the end
of the summer.
Yours sincerely,
TJ Reddin
