Mr John  D Wooding: Head 1972-85
died 2011

Mr Wooding recalled many happy memories of staff and pupils.

On arrival he was faced with a school in three locations (some were on the site of the United Dairies depot, as well as at Dilston Road and Woodvill/Kingston Road): school leaving age was rising to 16, the school was to go fully comprehensive and was to be concentrated on one site.

There was a strong 'family' atmosphere which he wished to preserve as the school enlarged.

In April 2002 he provided an interesting addition to the history pages - see the School History link in the Alumni pages.

On the occasion of a reunion in 2002 he sent the following message: "I send warmest greetings to my former students. I am now enjoying retirement on the South Coast and keeping active with some golf and bowls. I still recall our times together at Therfield with pride and affection. Have a wonderful evening. John Wooding"

It is hoped to add tributes to Mr Wooding from his funeral in Southampton on Dec 21st 2011.
