Mrs Ellenor Hodgson retires

Mrs Ellenor Hodgson, Assistant Headteacher, is pictured with year seven pupils whose parents she first taught after joining the school 31 years ago!

Now saying goodbye to a second generation of Therfield pupils, Mrs Hodgson left at the end of Summer Term 2002 to spend more time with her family and to visit her native Cumbria more frequently, though she was back on 15th August 2002 for one last A Level results day!

During her time at Therfield, Mrs Hodgson taught Religious Studies, and served as Head of Careers - helping 200 students find work experience every year.

She also provided invaluable service to pupils as an adviser following their A level results, offering counselling and a friendly ear which often resulted in her persuading universities to accept students.

In more recent years, Mrs Hodgson was in charge of staff welfare, with particular responsibility for newly qualified teachers.

She will be remembered by the school for her strong view of how valuable teachers are in society, and how it is through education that the best in people can be achieved.
