Woodville School Grounds Improvement Our Aims: The aims of the School Grounds Improvement Committee are to raise the childrens awareness of their school surroundings and to develop their caring towards and interest in, together with interaction with the environment, in which they could learn and play.These aims form the basis of the environmental policy. |

committee acknowledged that the school grounds were not
very inspiring. With this in mind, the members drew up the following aims: 1. To provide a more stimulating, safe and structured environment in which the children can play and relax. |

| 2. To improve and extend
the conservation area of woodland to incorporate
a pond, enabling us to provide a valuable
educational resource for use across the
curriculum. 3. To provide additional learning opportunities through the use of playground marking, quiet areas and a wildlife area for use both during and after school hours. 4. To provide improved equipment and areas for playtime activities. 5. To create a welcoming and interesting environment to develop the children's sense of ownership of their school grounds. 6. To develop the children's role as citizens by encouraging them to actively participate in the decision making and implementation of improving and maintaining their school grounds. Objectives 1. To provide a quiet area in the former grounds close to the main playground, in which the children have the opportunity to play games, read and relax. 2. To provide a number of seating areas around the school under existing trees and to plant a range of native deciduous trees adjacent to the playground to provide shelter and shade. 3. To provide a variety of playground furniture, to include a trim trail, historical walk and giant chess/games board. 4. To provide playground equipment and markings to improve the range and variety of playground games during breaks, including 100 square, human dial and compass rose. 5. To provide an area designated specifically for ball games. 6. To provide more litter bins and encourage the children to be more actively involved in taking care of their environment. 7. To provide an area for classroom gardens with raised beds for easier and disabled access. 8. To provide an additional outdoor classroom in the shape of a small amphitheatre.
