St John's School Leatherhead War Memorials - introduction
Those who died are commemorated by name on the roll inscribed on panels in the school's Chapel, the Undercroft of which is dedicated to one of them, Rev Vivian Redlich, priest and martyr. Continuing research shows that the Roll may be incomplete and that a very few names may need correction. Work is in progress at St John's to create War Memorial pages incorporating information from their collection of the school magazine, the Johnian and other sources. In the meantime each name has been sought on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission database and links provided to those found. We are grateful to St John's for the help they are providing on names where finding a link has proved difficult. Evidently the school included a few names which were not war casualties. |
