The Youth Cafe BFree is up and running!
In August 2000 Claire Gannon, Youth Worker with Churches Together in Leatherhead, appealed for assistance with the Youth Cafe Project.
Saturday 9th April 2005 The Chairman of Mole Valley District Council, Councillor Bridget Lewis, opened BFree, the Youth Cafe. It will be open every Thursday and Friday from 3.30pm until 10pm and on Saturdays from 12 until 10pm, entry being free to all 14-18 year olds. Bfree is a place where you can be yourself, meet friends in a safe relaxed atmosphere and get information on everything from cinemas to the Health Service. The Internet, pool, Playstation, snacks, drinks, and advice will also be available.
Jan 2005 - Bfree Youth Cafe & Information Centre The Leatherhead Youth Cafe and Information Centre will be a welcoming and safe environment where young people can come to relax and meet friends. Snacks and drinks will be on sale and there will be a pool table, music and TV.
Within the cafe there is an information zone containing six computers with internet access and a library of books, leaflets and directories, where young people can access valuable information on a wide range of issues such as career, family, sexual health, drugs and alcohol or education.
The cafe will be staffed by a full time manager who will be starting very shortly; and a team of trained volunteers who will be on hand to chat to cafe users and direct them to the services we offer.
If you would like to be part of the youth cafe project, either as a prayer partner, volunteer or financial supporter, we would love to hear from you in the Youth Office - 01372 363150.
